It's Fair Time - MIFS #73

This week is our county fair. It kicked off on Sunday with a parade, and lasts all week long. With animals there, we will be there everyday. It is good old fashioned fun for the whole family. Everyone is sure to find something they enjoy. So, come on join me in a virtual tour the Make It From Scratch way. Before we go, you may want to grab your Ultimate Grocery Bag. You are sure to want to fill it with goodies to bring home.

There is plenty of entertainment for all. You can hear bands, see cloggers or even participate in a pig chase at our county fair. You can walk through the buildings and see a wide variety of farm animals, but one of my favorite walks is through the food vendors.

Fair food is always irresistible. Walking down that aisle just makes my stomach growl. Fresh-Squeezed Lemonade is a must have. Let's grab a glass while we pick out the rest of our meal! How about Chicken Tandoori? Yum! Oh and the desserts! How will we choose? Peach Sherbet, or Peanut Butter Fudge? I'll take some of each please!

Now with full bellies let's venture to the Agricultural and Home-Ec buildings. These are wonderful places of inspiration for those who like to Make It From Scratch! The bakers in the county have been very busy. I see Cinnamon Rolls, Raisin Bread, and Corn Meal Biscuits among the entries. Do the judges get to taste all the entries? How do I get to be a judge?!

The sewing projects always amaze me. Probably because I don't sew. The quilts are all so beautiful and the amount of time the ladies put in on those is admirable. If I did sew though, I'd probably want a bit of a smaller project like those adorable Miss Buttons Dollies. Wouldn't my little girls just love that?!

Then there are all the goodies from the garden. The gardeners and farmers have brought in their fresh produce. There are farm crops, fruits, vegetables and herbs. Don't those green peppers look great! I'd love to take some of them home for Stuffed Peppers. That basil is gorgeous and would be perfect for Raw Vegan Pesto. See that arugula? I just saw recipe the other day for Rocket (Arugula) and Pecan Pesto. It looked wonderful. Other gardeners have preserved their bounty and earned ribbons for their work. There are canned green beans, relishes, and Tomatoes proudly displayed.

I hope you enjoyed your Make It From Scratch tour of the county fair. I'll be at the real fair all week, so if you're close stop in and say hi! Make It From Scratch will be at Novel Experiences next week.

Laura Williams' Musings: Make it From Scratch Carnival #70

This week I only have one kid. It is sooo quiet around here. I spent yesterday kind of piddlin' in the garden and doing a little laundry, thinking I had all this time this week. I woke up this morning wondering what the heck I was thinking yesterday. I have several errands that must be done today. I have company coming tomorrow. A friend is coming to help can beans, and my father in law from Virginia is coming for a couple days. I have nothing ready for either of those events. I need to get moving.

So what am I doing sitting here blogging? Just telling you where to find Make It From Scratch today.

Laura Williams' Musings: Make it From Scratch Carnival #70

Now where is my pressure cooker? Do I have any lids? Are the sheets clean on the guest bed? What are we eating this week?
