Just came across youor blog and enjoyed reading the articles. This one struck a chord and admire your hard work. Money isn't everything
(they say) but when you don't have enough to keep up with the hills etc then it sure seems like everything.

Happy for yu that things have turned around financially and hope you get rejuvenated soon.

I did have a little treat Friday night. I went to a moms only event and that was a wonderful and refreshing evening. My luxuries are simple and in the same budget category as yours! :)

Thanks. I highly encourage you and C to attend Financial Peace next time it is in your area. It is a huge motivator and well worth the time and money!

I know i really do just need a few days in a row of quiet. those are very hard to come by here. But I have to up them on the priority list!

I think it's so important to see where you started, to see how far you've come. It sounds to me like you made HUGE strides on the financial end. The best thing is knowing what comes and in and then where it goes.

It's raining here too, bleak and yucky. I hope to make time for a fire, a good book and some hot tea...I hope you are able to relax as well!

Praying for you, Stephanie. I think we all can relate. We are finally in a place of maintaining, but every time we get ahead something takes us back to ground zero. We are dumping $1800 into a beater car today so we will have reliable (questionable) transportation for the family. More than that, our Quicken reports ("black & white") tell us there should be NO issue with our financial situation. Yet, we are still living paycheck to paycheck. ~ sigh~

Bottom line: We continue to tithe & give above that as the Lord leads. I think it is important to keep the flow moving. He has been faithful to keep us moving forward.

I, too, am praying for balance & energy to get through my days. And, praying that we all can reap the rewards of our labor ~ or at least that it will benefit our children with the proper priorities & values so they can avoid our mistakes.

You did exactly the right thing to put it down in black and white. It is such concrete evidence of what you are accomplishing. Having said that, is there anyway that you could 'treat' yourself in some way? What is a treat is different for each person, and isn't necessarily anything that costs money, or it may cost a little but be worth it. It doesn't mean that you go crazy or anything like that, but that you think about you for a bit and allow yourself some luxury. For example, a treat for me would be to go shopping by myself for a bit (whether I buy anything or not) and have a bite to eat someplace nice. You would have to understand that for me, someplace nice might be to go to Panera bread and get a bagel and drink and sit and read the newspaper. A few dollars, but what a luxury! Well, to me anyway. :) I don't know what you would enjoy, but hopefully you understand my point. Sometimes we just really need a little something to rejuvinate.
