Fake Snow

I realize for some of you feeling the effects of this weekend's winter snow storms, the idea of more snow, even if it fake, may not be very attractive. We did get some of the cold from those storms, but the snow was barely a dusting. The kids decided to play in the fake snow I had gotten from Vat 19. They carry some very unique and fun products like fake snow and Ambient Fire Video Fireplace.

We put our sample of instant flakes in a bowl, and added water.

Instantly the flakes became a powdery "snow." I'm sure there is a science lesson in there somewhere, but we just had fun with it.

As is the "snow" is dry and powdery, perfect for decorative uses. My children however felt that it didn't feel real enough. They wanted to be able to pack and form it. So they added more water. They never did quite get it to the point it would make a mini snowman, but they had a blast pushing it around my table with bulldozers. It kept them busy for about an hour, and they even cleaned up the mess. A nice time for mom! ;)

Neat idea! Although you're more than welcome to take as much as you'd like from the 8 inches we got here.
