Breakfast for Dinner
I know this is not new to many of you, but it is one of my favorite frugal dinner tips, and thought it could stand repeating. Trim your grocery budget by incorporating breakfast type meals into your dinner menus.
My children think it is the biggest treat to have breakfast for dinner. They get so excited when I tell them we are have pancakes for dinner. You'd think I was serving ice cream. The reaction isn't quite as strong for eggs and potatoes, but they still think it is fun to have mixed up meals. (If you are wondering about the difference in eggs, the darker yolk is from our chicken the other egg is store bought.) Some of our favorite breakfasts for dinner are pancakes, French toast, and sausage gravy with eggs and potatoes.
Breakfast foods, on the whole are less expensive than traditional dinner foods. Meat normally is the most expensive part of your meal. Many breakfasts do not need to include meat, and if you do choose to include meat, it is served as a side, not the main dish, helping to keep your meal cost down.
The family loves breakfast for dinner. I love that something frugal and easy is such a hit with them. Make dinner more fun, and save yourself some money by incorporating breakfast meals into you dinner menus.

Breakfast for dinner is ALWAYS a hit with my bunch. My husband went so far as to actually request it one night last week (for him, requesting anything is kind of amazing!). ;)
We actually did this last night- eggs and potatoes and bacon for dinner. Not only is it cheap, it's one of the quickest meals we have in our rotation. Because my husband & I don't typically eat breakfast at all, having it for dinner is a treat! We do it about once ever week and a half.
We've had breakfast for dinner twice this week. Usually I don't make a big type breakfast in the mornings and go with something simple like oatmeal or cereal. So, when I make pumpkin pancakes (tuesday's meal) or scrambled eggs (last night's meal) my family is very happy.
This is one of the boys' favorite meals and one I know they will eat. of course, Steven will eat anything covered in syrup! LOL!
We rarely eat big for breakfast (cereal, toast, fruit, bagel types of things) and have rotated "breakfast food" for dinner for years. We usually have either pancakes or french toast- and half of the family rallies for one or the other. Once in a while we'll do omelets made to order with biscuits and bacon as sides.
We do this at least once a week too. It is so inexpensive compared to making a regular dinner and our kiddos love it. I try to bag up my pancake mix and waffle mix so that it is ready to go when I can't think of anything to make. It has saved us a lot of money!
Breakfast is a great go-to meal. French Toast is also a good substitute for eggs.
For a cheap and easy meal I always love meatless pasta. A really good way to stretch a dollar.
We like this, too! For awhile we had breakfast for dinner every Saturday night-it was really easy and yummy after a busy day. Very inexpensive!
Breakfast is good anytime!
Wow, I remember when store-bought eggs used to look like the one on the left. And had nice thick shells that you really had to crack on the frying pan.
