Black Friday Online?
The day after Thanksgiving is traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year. It has earned the name Black Friday because it is the day retailers get out of the red and back into the black financially for the year. Stores offer fantastic sales on items that are found on Christmas wish lists. Shoppers, still groggy from Thanksgiving feasts, get up at the crack of dawn to get their hands on those deals.
I'm a new convert to Black Friday, only shopping that day for the past few years. Searching for the deals is a thrill. To get the most out of it you must have a plan of attack. I sit down with my Christmas list and the ads to try and match the best deals with the things I need. You simply must have a list and stick with it when shopping on Black Friday. Otherwise it is very easy to get carried away and come home with much more than you planned on buying.
There are a few problems with Black Friday, besides getting up at the crack of dawn to go to the store, and fight the crowds. One is that the ads normally don't come out until the week of or even the day of Thanksgiving. Doesn't give you much time to plan. Also, you can not get to all the stores for the door opening specials, and there may be stores offering great deals on things you need, but the store is not in your area. I came across a site today that may help with those problems.
By signing up with your email address at Black-Friday.net, you can get early notification, by email of the 2007 Thanksgiving specials. There are already listings there for some of my favorite stores, including Target. The site also will provide links to do your Black Friday shopping online. Saves you the hassle of fighting the crowds at 5 AM. I signed up today.
Getting the ads early will be a big help. I probably will still go out on Black Friday. I think it is fun, and besides, I like leaving Tim with all the kids every now and then! But this year I may do a little online shopping before going out to fight the crowds.

I LOVE Black Friday! It is my seasonal crazy day out with the ladies-- my one day of the year I KNOW I will be out without the kidlets and hubby won't gripe since I'm saving so much money on the holiday shopping.
My sister and our friends get out at around 4 am and are not to e expected back until maybe dinnertime.
I start my lists usually the beginning of November when the online spoilers start appearing. I had no idea that the info is out there already! One question tho'-- why are some of the prices so suspicously the same as last year? Walmart had tons of dvds for $3.44 last year and now I see the same for this year? Is there some meaning to $3.44 in WalMart pricing?
Thanks for the link!
I hate Black Friday shopping in the stores, so I avoid the crowds for the most part. Sometimes I hit Walmart late in the morning, because it's close to my house and pretty empty by mid-morning.
I did get some great deals online last year. I'm fortunate to live on the West Coast, and the sales generally go live before I go to bed Thanksgiving night. :)
I love this link. I signed up. I had no clue that this was around and so many stores to view already. I already see a deal. I was going to buy a flat screen tv for my kids this week at KMart for $279 for a christmas gift but it's on the black friday list for $219. I am saving money already! One question....can you possibly get around to multiple stores on that day???? I hope you don't mind. I am going to trackback to this post in my blog because I want to reach my blogroll.
Don't know about that $3.44 pricing. Some kind of secret code?
Lynnae,
I used to hate it too, but since I've had kids I think it is fun. Must be the get away time factor.

I am assuming that even the stores listed will have more later. I guess we'll see. Maybe you'll find an even better deal on that TV
Last year we shopped at a shopping center so we could go to a few different stores, but we did not wait in line for the doors to open or wait for too many of the specials. And of course you may track back to me! :)
Black Friday is one of my favorite days of the year! :)
But I dunno... a lot of those deals look familiar. I know I bought $7 Doodle Bears last year and was disappointed to find the PS2 controllers sold out when I got to Target. I think this may be last year's ad.
I don't think the ads on that site are for 2007. I've always had great success with the site http://www.bfads.net. I just visited their site, and there was only one ad- for ACE Hardware. But I love Black Friday, and some retailers honor Black Friday prices online. I know Wal-Mart did this last year for some items. Save you going to the store and waiting in line... which is a good thing!
I usually shop on Black Friday and the day after Christmas. Last year I went to Target and got a bunch of DVDs for us and for presents too.
One thing I noticed on this list is that Over the Hedge is listed for $15.99. Target has had it on sale the last few weeks for $9.99 (half price). It's good to pay attention to sales all year long.
