Works for Me - The Entertainment Book

We like to do fun things. We like to go out to eat. We like to save money when we do them. The Entertainment Book is a great way to accomplish all those goals. If you are not familiar with the books, you purchase them and they are full of coupons for your area. There are coupons for attractions, restaurants, shopping and travel. The coupons are for up to 50% off and for 2 for 1 deals. The books cost between $25-$45 depending on the area the book covers.

We have not purchased one since we moved to this area, but I am planning to. We did get them for the area we lived in before. We would keep it in the car to have handy when we were out and about. We would bring it in to look at it before planning a family day out.

One word of caution, it is easy to want to use as many coupons as possible to "get your money's worth." Spending more than your budget will be the result of that thinking. Use the coupons to save money from your budgeted amount, or to do something nicer than you could afford to do with out a coupon. It is a big book, you don't need to use all the coupons.

We got our money's worth from it, but to reduce the cost you could share the cost of the book with a family member or close friend. Then just split up the coupons between you. The books also are good gifts for those trying to save money.

The 2008 books are on sale now. It does seem to be rushing it a bit, but there are incentives for buying early. If you participate in any of the programs listed below, buying early becomes more attractive.

i love our entertainment book, but i always forget to use it unless i need to go to the dry cleaners or get an oil change. but even just doing that the book 'pays for itself.' i just need to remember that there's activit coupons in there as well. i just saw a coupon buy 1 get 1 for ice skating at a local rink. caelyn's been wanting to learn how to ice skate. now if i can just remember to use it when we go.....

We love our book. It usually pays itself off within a month. We're definitely getting the 2008 version.

I wish we had one available where we live! >sob< The nearest one to us is 2 hours away.

Our local school district usually puts out a similar book each year, but not always. And the coupons, while pretty good, are not nearly as good as what I've seen in the big fancy "Entertainment Book".

Our school sells "Smart Cards" that are quite similar to the entertainment books. A note from my husband, the restaurant manager about them, though: Make sure to tip your server based on the original amount of the bill. Many times when people use coupons they tip on the adjusted amount, and the server gets less than what s/he deserved.

Kellie,
Stick it in the car. That is how we got the most use from it.

Ivy,
As a former server, I couldn't agree more!

Do you work from home? I would like to learn how to make money from an online blog. My home office became more productive after I purchased new office furniture. I decided to use modular pieces to allow me to change the configuration. This way I can be more creative at work and at home.
