I Can Dream Can't I?

We took a nice, but frugal vacation this year. Our vacation budget for the next year will be significantly smaller, as we are redirecting funds to purchase a different family vehicle. (Tim and I aren't in total agreement yet about the vehicle purchase, but I think he will come around to my way of thinking.) Our next vacation will likely involve a tent, some backpacks, and mountains near us.

I'm ok with that. We really enjoy those kind of vacations, but I dream of seeing the world. It isn't in the budget now, but it is nice to imagine planning a trip to the UK. We would of course, do it frugally by going off season, shopping for the best airfare, and checking for the best rates at Hotels in London, Hotels in Manchester, and Hotels in Birmingham.

I would look for free or low cost things to do. Maybe we would go to the Queens Gallery, or Westminster Abbey, or possibly the fan museum. Perhaps the Museum of Science and Industry would be a good one for the family. I know my oldest would love that. A stroll through Brindleyplace along the canals in Birmingham sounds wonderful too. I know some of you are from the UK, what free or low cost activities would you recommend?

Ah, some day we will travel the world. We will do it frugally, but travel just the same. For now I look forward to camping, and backpacking and other things that are close to home.

That sounds nice.
London train stations get bombed probably 10 times more often than Cabell County tho.
Just thought I'd help.

We have been living in Romania the past two years and have used every extra penny to see as much of Europe as possible! They have great apartments in most cities that are actually cheaper than the hotels, has a kitchen so you can cook your own meals, and a seperate bedroom for the adults! Air travel is cheaper here too. Most of our tickets have been around $100 roundtrip. We also tend to buy our souvenirs from the grocery store. Like a pretty bottle of olive oil in Greece. Use the oil and then display the bottle! But now we're ready to head home...in 14 days!
