Personalized Pacifiers
Crawling and toddling babies have no concept of things belonging to others. Everything within their grasp is theirs, and most times what is "theirs;" toys, food, or someone else's pacifier, ends up in their mouth. If your child is around lots of other children in daycare, the nursery at church or at the baby sitter's house this can result in a lot of undesirable germ swapping.
As a caregiver, it can be a full time job just keeping track of whose pacifier is whose. Marking them is a temporary solution, but wouldn't it be nice if there was a more permanent fix? One young mother, tired of the pacifier swapping at her son's daycare, thought so, and designed a solution.
The idea turned into MyPacifier.com a company that creates personalized pacifiers They offer a wide variety of pacifiers in many different colors. They even are introducing Designer Pacifiers, the first offering are "Pirate" and "Genius" pacifiers.
Each pacifier is permanently engraved with your child's name or other text, like "Mute Button," in the sample product sent to me, up to two lines. I did not open the product as this "Mute Button" will be given to my newest niece (who will be born today,) but the product appears to be of high quality.
Pacifiers can be ordered in sets of three for $15 from MyPacifier.com. There is a price break when multiple sets are ordered. The website is relatively user friendly. On the site you can preview what your child's name will look like on the pacifier. My only complaint about the product or website is the pictures on the site. The pictures are small with an even smaller inset of the nipple which is almost impossible to see. It would be nice to be able to click for a larger image. A minor complaint.
I think this is a wonderful product. The price is higher than regular pacifiers, but for a child who is around many other children, it is a price worth paying. You may not be able to eliminate the "sharing" that happens between children this age, but you can help to curb it by using a product like this.
