A Couple Updates
I think sometimes I get so excited to post about something new, that I don't allow an adequate test period to make sure things work like they should. Such was the case with Homemade Laundry Detergent. In case you missed it, I added an update to that post awhile back. The small adjustment in the recipes has eliminated the problem of the soap not dissolving in cold water washes. This is working very well for me.
And now I've updated Homemade Dishwasher Detergent. The problem I discovered, after several weeks of use, is a film buildup. I am now using the homemade detergent to stretch the store detergent. I haven't had time to experiment with some ideas I have to make the homemade a stand alone cleaner, but I will let you know if I figure something out. Of course, if you have it figured out already, please share with us!

I believe for the film buildup you're supposed to run one empty cycle with only vinegar.
Are you using vinegar in your rinse aid dispenser? I found this helped a lot and then I would just add a pinch of the Aldi detergent to beef it up a bit. I am glad you are still able to use it though. It certainly saves a little money!!!
Yep using vinegar for the rinse aid. But maybe I do just need a pinch of Aldi with the homemade instead of 1/2 and 1/2 as I've been doing. I'll try that!
I had a nasty film on all mu glass ware using just the home made with vinegar in the rinse. I went back to my electrosol 3 in 1 tabs. I toss a tablespoon of the homemade on the door right before I close it.
