Remembering Pregnancy
Some women relish their pregnancy, savoring every new feeling, and enjoying their changing bodies. Not me. I've had relatively easy pregnancies with little or no morning sickness, and no complications. Probably the worst symptom I had was heartburn. That I had a lot of. And yes, the old wives tale is true; all of my babies were born with heads full of hair.
Even though my pregnancies were fairly easy, I didn't enjoy them. I wouldn't say that I hated being pregnant, but that I felt kind of neutral about it. I was very excited about the fact a baby was coming, but the pregnancy itself was just to be tolerated until that baby came.
One thing that I never did like about being pregnant was maternity clothes. When I was pregnant with Kellen (8) maternity clothes were still the style that were supposed to hide your belly, but just made you look like you were wearing a tent. The styles were much more flattering by the time I was pregnant with Vivian (1), but why do many of the newer styles show so much cleavage? I really don't mind the styles that show off the belly, on thin women, but those close fitting clothes show more rolls on me than I can attribute to the baby. YUCK!
But you know me, my real issue with maternity clothing is having to pay so much for things I will only wear a few months! Yes, you can wear them for another pregnancy, if you are pregnant in the same season. I tried to buy resale, trade and borrow whenever possible, and I consigned the clothes when I was done.
How about you? Did you relish your pregnancies, tolerate them, or hate them? What were some things that stand out in your mind about being pregnant?

I'm not pregnant but I do have an opinion on maternity clothes. I love 'em! I have never worn tight clothing and have always adored empire waists. My current look is a maternity dress or tunic over linen pants. That way, when I finally am pregnant, maybe folks won't know for a while!
I'm pretty lucky this time around. I'm 27 weeks and still wearing my regular jeans. There were a few weeks before I "popped" that I wore maternity pants. I will wear these as long as I can button them. This is my third and thankfully I carry quite high. I'll only have to wear maternity for a couple months and I suppose I can put up with a very limited wardrobe for that long. I can't stand spending money on clothes and hate it even more when they have such a limited use.
I soooo gained weight on my first you couldn't believe it. I ate like such a pig! I think it was the ice cream cones everyday. I can't remember that clearly. With the rest of the three, I stayed pretty much within 5- 10 lbs or so.
I love, love, LOVE being pregnant. I love the experience of creating new life, feeling the baby move, imagining what he will be like, the anticipation. I love the attention and the big belly and having an excuse to eat chocolate ice cream every night. :) I love childbirth too.. but those months of sleepless nights that follow, I don't love those!
I was sick almost the whole 9 months with Jarrett but really loved being pregnant with both boys. There were times near the end that I wished the baby would just come already but I would gladly do it again. I would have even carried a baby for one of my sisters if they had needed me to.
I loved being pregnant and health issues that plagued me seemed to go in remission during my pregnancies. I never got very big though so I almost wore my regular clothes through the entire pregnances (up until about seven months). By then, I could get away with medium size tops that I got from Goodwill.
My girlfriend & I are the same size and we traded maternity clothes during our pregnancies. It made it a little more fun!
The only thing I splurged on was a nice bathing suit, a little black dress for my husband's holiday party, two pairs of Gap jeans (Ebay), & an Old Navy jog suit that I could wear home after the baby. Everything else was bought from Goodwill.
With my 1st pregnancy I was pretty neurtral about the whole preg. thing. I also had morning sickness until over 30 weeks. This pregnancy I'm enjoying a bit more but I still HATE the maternity clothes...I don't get the cleavage thing especially now that I have a kid hanging off me. Ah, only 12 more weeks to go!!!
