Grocery Shopping List

I am a list maker. I have multiple lists going. There is a list for things I want to look for at garage sales, a "honey do" list, two lists of blog ideas, and a couple others. I have to keep lists. I have to write things down, or I will forget them. The most important list I keep is the grocery list.

I love those magnetic pads of paper for my grocery lists. You could easily make your own magnetic pad by gluing a magnet on a back of any pad of paper. I usually find mine on clearance and have gotten a few in gifts. They are great additions to gift baskets.

I hang the pad right on the refrigerator, and as soon as I notice we are low or out of something it gets put on the list. Tim (DH) and Kellen (8) also know this routine and are good about adding items to the list if they use the last of something.

You may also notice there are two lists on my refrigerator. This list on the left is my main list. We go shopping every other week. We almost always go to two stores; Aldi and Wal-Mart. I could keep separate lists for the two stores, but I find it just as easy to keep it on one. Most is purchased at Aldi, then whatever remains on the list, at Wal-Mart.

The smaller list on the right is for items I purchase at the Bulk Food Store. Since we don't make this stop every shopping trip, it works better to keep a separate list. This stop is made about once a month, sometimes every other month, or when I completely run out of something I really need. The bulk food store is near Aldi, so it is easy to stop when we are getting our other groceries.

It is a simple tip, but it really does help. Write down things, as you go, when you notice you are low or out. It will save you digging through the cupboards to make a list before your shopping trip. It also helps to make sure your staple items are always on hand. It Works for Me!

Hi,

I'm a big list maker too. I think they really help you get more done.

I keep one of those on my fridge for lists, but two would be better for that reason... great tip, thanks!

P.S. if you have a Michaels store anywhere around you, the magnetic pads can be found in the dollar bin in tons of designs that change monthly! =)

Thoses ARE great. I got two...one for groceries, and one for a To Do list. I think I got them at a dollar store, but you could definitely make them with those junk mail magnetics. A pad and a glue gun, and it's done.
